Inspiration
behind our foster
program
Katie, Rowdy Roses's founder and head trainer, has been passionate about rescues since she was young. It started with her first rescue at 15 years old, they grew and learned together and formed a deep bond and love for training. Katie has continued to advocate for shelter dogs and has added a new member of her pack in 2023 named Kiela. She has taken a break from adding more dogs to her pack but still wants to help dogs in her community. She has started this foster program so she can raise awareness for how awesome shelter pups are. While being able to show the public she also can find high-risk dogs loving homes and support. Katie takes in dogs at the end of their rope and dedicates her time and resources to get them back on track. Her program includes boarding, training, and lots of love, and is 100% nonprofit.
Katie puts time, effort, and resources into these dogs without any repayment. She loves being able to give back and provide these dogs with a well-deserved second chance. We understand not everyone is equipped to take on a dog, however, people still reach out wanting to help. We do not accept cash donations, so we have created an Amazon wish list of common needs for our fosters! Supplies cost starting at $5 if you feel moved to help, we would love the support! Make sure to check our social media to see when your donation is received! If you would like to donate, please message us for a shipping address. Thank you in advance!

Our Foster Stories

Rambo, April - October 2024
Rambo came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. He was dumped and has been returned by a foster due to the lack of knowledge of his breed and prey drive towards chickens. Rambo is a working breed mix of German Shepherd and Belgian Tervuren. He was with two other big dogs in a small kennel and had been there for months. We taught him the tools to become the best dog he could be. He is now dog-friendly and is getting used to new people every day. He is a love bug and values family. Rambo could be a prospect for high levels of obedience, agility, herding, and so many other dog sports. Rambo was adopted by an adorable family who adores him and is ready to take on the challenge of owning this breed of dog. Rambo is very connected to his new family and I am so happy for him!

Jolie, April - June 2024
Jolie came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. She went into the shelter with three puppies, they had all been adopted and only this mamma was left. She was with two other big dogs in a small kennel and had been there for months. She hadn’t had any interest and was charging the fence so we got a sense why. Once we pulled her out of the shelter she became a new dog, she loves everyone and everything. She has the kindest soul and would make a great family or ranch pup. We worked on basic obedience and socialization, she killed it! The sweetest couple has adopted her and she is enjoying her snuggle on the couch and many outings!

Bailey, February - March 2024
Bailey came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Red Bluff California. Bailey was selected by ARF Pets for Vets! A unique program that trains shelter dogs to become service dogs for veterans! Unfortunately, we discovered she was deaf and she was forfeited from the program. It was a sad day when we learned she couldn’t go into the program, but we promised Bailey she wasn’t going back to the shelter. We trained Bailey with hand singles and taught her how to be a well-mannered dog. She got adopted by a ranch family and she has made many farm animal friends since.

Kovu, Dec - Jan 2024
Kovu is a very special case, we were asked to help by ARF Pets and Vets. A unique program that trains shelter dogs to become service dogs for veterans! This program is very near and dear to my heart. My dad served in the Air Force and was deployed overseas several times for our country. Kovu came to us because his foster was unable to manage his behavioral issues and he was going to be forfeited from their program. He had separation anxiety, no impulse control, poor leash manners, was terrified of the car, and lacked boundaries. What a change this guy has made! We are so glad to be able to help resolve these concerns and he is now on his way to becoming the best dog he can be!

Luther, Sep - Dec 2023
Luther came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Red bluff California. He was on the top of their euthanasia list and they worried he wasn’t going to make it out of the shelter. This was my call for action and I snatched him up. He was pushy, dog-reactive, and very strong. This 70lb shepherd was a danger to himself and others. After a couple of months with us he learned how to handle his emotions, learn to love other pups, and mind his manners in public. This dog made a great turnaround and was ready for his forever home. A family with multiple kids ended up adopting him and they couldn’t be happier. He is so gentle with the kids and his family is committed to keeping up his training. I love hearing updates and seeing how great his family fits him.

Tucker, July -Sep 2023
Tucker came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. He had no interest in the shelter and was their longest resident. This 4-year-old happy shepherd had no manners and could not walk on a leash. We crate-trained him and started on the basics immediately. He learned how to behave in the home and in public settings. We made sure to take him on lots of outings so he would be well-socialized with a variety of distractions. He ended up a very social pup who loves people and dogs. After months of hard work and waiting for his forever home he got adopted! A lovely couple from a couple of cities away is now enjoying hikes and road trips with him. He is now spoiled with cookies, toys, snuggles, and adventures! I’m so thankful this dedicated and loving couple snatched him up so he could live his best life.
