Inspiration
behind our foster
program
Katie Rose – Founder and Head Trainer of Rowdy Rose K9s – has been passionate about dog rescue since her teenage years. Her journey began at the age of 15 when she adopted her first rescue dog. Together, they grew, learned, and forged a deep bond, sparking Katie’s lifelong love for training and advocacy.
Throughout the years, Katie has remained a strong supporter of shelter dogs, continuing to foster and advocate for those in need. In 2023, she welcomed a new addition to her family, a dog named Kiela, but has since decided to focus on supporting her community rather than expanding her pack.
Katie’s Foster Program was born out of her desire to raise awareness about the incredible potential of shelter dogs, especially those in high-risk situations. Through this program, Katie is dedicated to rescuing dogs at their lowest point, providing them with training, stability, and love, and ultimately helping them find their forever homes.
This program, which includes boarding, training, and ongoing care, is 100% nonprofit. Katie pours her heart into each dog, ensuring they receive the time, resources, and rehabilitation needed to thrive. Her mission is to not only help these dogs but to show the community the value of adopting and supporting shelter dogs.
Katie dedicates her time, energy, and resources to helping rescue dogs, all without expectation of repayment. Her passion lies in giving these dogs a much-needed second chance, offering them the care and training they deserve. While we understand that not everyone is in a position to adopt or foster, we are grateful for those who wish to contribute in other ways.
To support our efforts, we have created an Amazon Wish List featuring essential supplies for our foster dogs, with items starting as low as $5. We do not accept cash donations, but your in-kind contributions can make a big difference in the lives of the dogs we care for.
If you feel moved to help, we would be deeply appreciative of your support. Be sure to check our social media for updates on when your donation is received and to see how your generosity is making a difference!
If you're interested in donating, please reach out to us for our shipping address. Thank you in advance for your kindness and support!

Our Foster Stories

Rambo, April - October 2024
Rambo came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. He was dumped and has been returned by a foster due to the lack of knowledge of his breed and prey drive towards chickens. Rambo is a working breed mix of German Shepherd and Belgian Tervuren. He was with two other big dogs in a small kennel and had been there for months. We taught him the tools to become the best dog he could be. He is now dog-friendly and is getting used to new people every day. He is a love bug and values family. Rambo could be a prospect for high levels of obedience, agility, herding, and so many other dog sports. Rambo was adopted by an adorable family who adores him and is ready to take on the challenge of owning this breed of dog. Rambo is very connected to his new family and I am so happy for him!

Jolie, April - June 2024
Jolie came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. She went into the shelter with three puppies, they had all been adopted and only this mamma was left. She was with two other big dogs in a small kennel and had been there for months. She hadn’t had any interest and was charging the fence so we got a sense why. Once we pulled her out of the shelter she became a new dog, she loves everyone and everything. She has the kindest soul and would make a great family or ranch pup. We worked on basic obedience and socialization, she killed it! The sweetest couple has adopted her and she is enjoying her snuggle on the couch and many outings!

Bailey, February - March 2024
Bailey came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Red Bluff California. Bailey was selected by ARF Pets for Vets! A unique program that trains shelter dogs to become service dogs for veterans! Unfortunately, we discovered she was deaf and she was forfeited from the program. It was a sad day when we learned she couldn’t go into the program, but we promised Bailey she wasn’t going back to the shelter. We trained Bailey with hand singles and taught her how to be a well-mannered dog. She got adopted by a ranch family and she has made many farm animal friends since.

Kovu, Dec - Jan 2024
Kovu is a very special case, we were asked to help by ARF Pets and Vets. A unique program that trains shelter dogs to become service dogs for veterans! This program is very near and dear to my heart. My dad served in the Air Force and was deployed overseas several times for our country. Kovu came to us because his foster was unable to manage his behavioral issues and he was going to be forfeited from their program. He had separation anxiety, no impulse control, poor leash manners, was terrified of the car, and lacked boundaries. What a change this guy has made! We are so glad to be able to help resolve these concerns and he is now on his way to becoming the best dog he can be!

Luther, Sep - Dec 2023
Luther came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Red bluff California. He was on the top of their euthanasia list and they worried he wasn’t going to make it out of the shelter. This was my call for action and I snatched him up. He was pushy, dog-reactive, and very strong. This 70lb shepherd was a danger to himself and others. After a couple of months with us he learned how to handle his emotions, learn to love other pups, and mind his manners in public. This dog made a great turnaround and was ready for his forever home. A family with multiple kids ended up adopting him and they couldn’t be happier. He is so gentle with the kids and his family is committed to keeping up his training. I love hearing updates and seeing how great his family fits him.

Tucker, July -Sep 2023
Tucker came from the Tehama County Animal Shelter in Redbluff California. He had no interest in the shelter and was their longest resident. This 4-year-old happy shepherd had no manners and could not walk on a leash. We crate-trained him and started on the basics immediately. He learned how to behave in the home and in public settings. We made sure to take him on lots of outings so he would be well-socialized with a variety of distractions. He ended up a very social pup who loves people and dogs. After months of hard work and waiting for his forever home he got adopted! A lovely couple from a couple of cities away is now enjoying hikes and road trips with him. He is now spoiled with cookies, toys, snuggles, and adventures! I’m so thankful this dedicated and loving couple snatched him up so he could live his best life.
